Haunted History & Halloween
Mansfield Castle Hotel has a ghost story centred on Mrs Fowler, a former owner who is said to keep a watchful eye on her old home. According to local folklore, her spirit appears when renovations or alterations are taking place, seemingly interested in what is being changed.
She is generally described as a friendly presence, making this more a tale of a former resident reluctant to leave than a sinister haunting. With its Victorian tower, oak-panelled hall and impressive wooden staircase, the castle offers an atmospheric setting for an autumn break or Halloween escape with your cat.
