Overview
Cherry Tree Cottage is a converted Victorian barn in Tarvin Sands, near the historic village of Tarvin in Cheshire. Sleeping four guests in two bedrooms, this characterful cottage combines exposed beams and traditional interiors with practical facilities for a self-catering break.
Set within the grounds of Poplar House, it offers a countryside base for exploring Chester and the surrounding villages. Up to two pets are welcome by arrangement.
The Property
The cottage is arranged over two floors, with a separate lounge and a kitchen-diner downstairs. Exposed ceiling beams add character to the living space, where sofas, a television with Freeview and a DVD player provide somewhere to unwind after a day out.
The kitchen includes an oven and hob, fridge, freezer, microwave and dishwasher, alongside a washing machine for longer stays. A dining table provides space to sit down together, while central heating and free Wi-Fi add everyday convenience.
Upstairs, the bedrooms comprise one king-size room and one twin room. There is one separate bathroom with a shower.
Outside, the garden has tables and chairs for enjoying meals in the fresh air, along with a barbecue. Lawns, established planting and trees contribute to the cottage setting.
For the Cat
Cats are welcome by arrangement, with a maximum of two pets permitted in total. A charge of £6 per pet, per night applies.
Accessibility
Both bedrooms are upstairs and reached by an internal staircase.
Location
The cottage is around a quarter of a mile from Tarvin village, making it a useful base for combining village amenities with time in the Cheshire countryside. Tarvin has historic buildings, shops and places to eat and drink.
Chester is approximately five miles from Tarvin. Spend a day exploring its historic city walls and distinctive Rows shopping galleries, or combine sightseeing with a meal in the city.
For outdoor days, Delamere Forest offers waymarked walking trails and cycling routes through woodland. Manley Mere provides another option for an active day out, with watersports and open-water swimming. Chester Zoo and Oulton Park racing circuit are further possibilities for days away from the cottage.
